As we settle into the rhythm of 2026, many of us are searching the horizon for something "fresh." We want a new revelation, a brand-new word for our brand-new year. But I’ve been thinking lately: What if the most important thing God has to say to you this year is something He already said a few thousand years ago?
In the Old Testament, the phrase “The Lord said” appears over 800 times. In the New Testament, Jesus changed the phrasing to “I say to you.” Whether it’s a booming voice from a cloud or a quiet whisper to the heart, the reality is the same: The King is in the room, and His words carry the authority of heaven.
Sometimes we act like kids with our fingers in our ears because we don’t want to change. But God’s word doesn't depend on our listening to be true. Because His character never changes, His response to our lives never changes.
If you feel like you’re stuck between a sea and an army today, the Lord says: Move. (Exodus 14:15). Stop waiting for the water to part before you start walking. Break camp and move toward the mission.
If you’re in a dry season where nothing seems to be growing, the Lord says: Dig ditches. (2 Kings 3:16). Sometimes God’s strategy requires us to prepare for a miracle we can’t see yet. He might not send the wind or the rain you expect, but He will fill the valleys you’ve prepared.
If you feel like a failure or an accident, the Lord says: I called you by name. (Isaiah 43:1). Don’t let the world—or even your own head—call you by a name that God has already redeemed. You are formed, you are known, and you are beloved.
God’s Word is an ancient echo, but it is a current decree. Today, whatever you are facing, don’t look for a "new" truth. Look to the One who is Truth. He wants to trade your heavy spirit for a garment of praise. He’s already spoken it; now it’s time for us to live it.
