Matthew 2:1-23

Matthew 2:1–23

Last week, we established that Jesus is King. In Matthew Chapter 2, we see the immediate fallout of that reality. The problem with a King being born is that most of us are already sitting on a throne of our own making—and that throne has an occupancy limit of ONE.

In this message, we explore the three primary responses to the authority of Jesus:

  • The Hostility of Herod: Fighting to protect our own "small kingdoms" and refusing to let God take control of our schedules, bank accounts, and lives.

  • The Indifference of the Scribes: Having all the right information and "Pentecostal language" but being unwilling to "walk the five miles" to actually encounter the Living God.

  • The Adoration of the Magi: A sacrificial, intentional pursuit of Jesus that costs us something and moves us to our knees.

Where are you at war with Jesus today? Are you an expert in the scriptures but a stranger to His presence? Join us as we move past the "plastic" version of the Nativity and confront the real, sovereign King who demands our worship and our lives.
