This week, we had a blast exploring how God helps us know what's true!

Ever watch a super cool movie and realize even though it's a story, you can learn something real from it? That's kind of like what we talked about this week! Jesus was an amazing storyteller, and He often used stories called parables to help people understand big truths about God. These weren't just any stories; they were like puzzle pieces helping us see the bigger picture of God's love and truth.

Our main adventure was diving into Jesus' story about a farmer sowing seeds, found in Matthew 13:1-23. Jesus explained that the seeds are like God's words or teachings. The different types of soil the seeds landed on represent how we listen and respond to God's message:

  • The Path: ‍ Sometimes, like seeds on a hard path, God's words don't really sink in, and we don't quite understand or try to.
  • Rocky Ground: Other times, we might hear God's words with joy (yay!), but if we don't have deep roots, the message can be forgotten when things get tough or distracting.
  • Thorny Ground: And sometimes, worries and other distracting things in life can be like thorns that choke out God's message.
  • Good Soil: But the best soil is when we hear God's words, really understand them, and let them grow deep in our hearts! This helps our actions show that we believe what we've heard.

Jesus told this story and then explained it so His followers could understand the truth about how to grow closer to God. It’s a great reminder that God doesn't want us to be confused; He helps us know what's true! We don't have to guess – we can always turn to God and His words.

To bring this all to life, the kids got to be "movie directors" and "actors" , pantomiming the parable of the sower. We also had an "Acting Challenge" where they pretended to be the seeds on different soils. And we got crafty with "Good Soil Art," using paper and seeds to remember how we can be like good soil for God's words.

Memory Verse: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." - Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)

It was a fantastic week of learning that God is always ready to help us understand His truth! Let's all try to be like that good soil, ready to receive and grow!

Kids Sunday Sneak Peek!

"The adventure continues this Sunday! We're carrying on with our 'feature presentation' on how God helps us know what's true, seeing His amazing story unfold. After joining the adults for the opening of worship, our young 'truth-seekers' will enjoy a 'Popcorn Relay' (essential for any good movie!). We’ll explore the rich narrative of Jesus' Parable of the Sower, watch a 'clip' from 'The Good Dinosaur' for lessons on growth, and witness the dazzling 'reveal' of Jesus' transfiguration. To bring it all home, we'll reflect and respond by designing a 'Big Picture Storyboard' and making our own 'film reels.' It's another exciting episode in discovering God's truth!"

See you Sunday!
